Huanuni, Dalence Prov., Oruro Dept., Bolivia
8 cm tall x 7 cm wide
Ludlamite from Bolivia has always been considered the finest for the species. This specimen is from a recent re-discovery of ludlamite in the original mine that produced the greatest examples found 20 and 30 years ago. This new find produced only a few significant examples.
The crystal habit of these new pieces is different. The older pieces had a fan like form with spiky terminations and flatter crystals. These new pieces have tighter, thick, and wheat sheaf like crystals. The color is a deep and rich green with a slick luster. This piece has a perfectly placed unfolding of three crystals in a flower like formation atop a tan colored siderite matrix.
