Xuebaoding Mine, Pingwu Co., Sichuan Prov., China

Scheelite from China completely redefines the species. Prior to this discovery, the world only knew scheelite as grayish, relatively unattractive species from Colorado and South Korea. Scheelites from China are highly valued as they are unique in the world. The strong vibrant orange color is exclusive to this locality.
This example has several closely grown scheelite crystals of the finest orange color. The small group is isolated at the center of a silvery white and bladed muscovite matrix. The crystals are highly transparent with excellent adamantine luster. This piece was mined about 25 years ago. As of today, very few scheelites are being found in China.
