RHODOCHROSITE

Rhodochrosite was first described in 1813 from samples taken from the ancient mines near Cavnic, Maramures (currently known as Romania). It is still mined at Cavnic to this day.

Rhodochrosite spans the color spectrum from pale pink to fire engine red. The significant localities are South Africa, Colorado, and Peru. It is amongst the most sought after of all mineral species. Most collectors would agree that no mineral collection is truly complete without a great example of rhodochrosite.

This viewing room is dedicated to rhodochrosite. Here in this room, you will see some of the most spectacular examples from several localities. Please check back as we will add new specimens as they become available.
