Selenite

Selenite, the transparent variety of gypsum, is a mineral that many may be familiar with, but not as beautiful, bright, and gem clear crystals. It's name comes from the ancient greek word for the moon.

In 2000, the now famous Cave of Crystals was discovered in Naica, Mexico. The largest selenite crystals in the cave weighed in at 59 tons and date back to around 500,000 years ago.

This viewing room is dedicated to selenite. Here in this room, you will see some of the most spectacular examples. Please check back as we will add new specimens as they become available.
