Shengus, Roundu District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
7.6 cm tall x 15.2 cm wide
Ex-collection Joseph Freilich
This locality is famous for producing the most spectacular aquamarines found anywhere in the world. A prominent sky-blue aquamarine crystal surrounded by lustrous black tourmalines and clear quartz crystals. It is rare to have these three species together in a perfectly balanced specimen. Only a few select pieces are as complex. The associations add strong contrast, both in color and diversity.
This piece was pictured in The Mineralogical Record in November 2000.
