Cabiche, Municipal de Quipama, Boyaca Dept., Colombia
12 cm tall x 13 cm wide
These unique yellow tipped quartz were first discovered in 2017. They were known to have been found earlier close to the famous emerald mines of Colombia. The mine owners valued them very highly and thus, did not often sell them. We are still unsure of what the yellow inclusion is in the crystal. It is believed to be the mineral, halloysite. It is always nice to know what an inclusion is but it’s not always possible.
We are specialists in inclusions and have handled some of the most spectacular and unique examples in the world. This gives us a perspective to say we have never seen anything like these yellow tipped quartz in the past.
