Rhodonite
Morro da Mina Mine, Conselheiro Lafaiete,
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.8 cm tall x 7.3 cm wide
The most exceptional rhodonites in the world are now found in Brazil. They possess the rich ruby red color in large transparent crystals. Prior to this discovery, Australia was considered the premier locality for the species. The Brazilian specimens have redefined rhodonite both in size and quality.
A large fiery red crystal at the center with a bit of matrix towards the back and near flawless crystals to each side. This specimen is one of the few remaining superior examples from this discovery.
