Tourmaline Queen Mine, Pala Dist., San Diego Co., California, USA
12.7 cm tall x 5.7 cm diameter
Ex-collections Miguel Romero and Gene Meieran
The Tourmaline Queen Mine draws its fame from the “Blue Cap” pocket discovered in 1972, which is considered among the most important mineral discoveries in the United States. This “Green Cap” tourmaline comes from the same mine. Identical in every way except for the color of the termination, which is a rich grass green in place of a sapphire blue. “Green Cap” crystals are rarer than “Blue Cap” crystals. Crystals from this mine are coveted by collectors around the world.
