Morganite, a pink to rose colored beryl, was initially discovered in Madagascar in 1910. It was George Kunz, Tiffany & Co.’s chief gemologist, who chose to name this new stone after his friend, financier and banker, J. P. Morgan. Morganite is among the most desirable collector stones in the beryl family.
The salmon pink morganite sits among bladed crystals of cleavelandite. The crystal form is a “text book” example, as it is perfectly aligned with its crystallography.
